Stockholm (GNP): The 2026 Nobel Prize announcements are under way and will run from 5 to 12 October. The Nobel Prize organisation has published the full timetable for all six prizes on nobelprize.org.
The series opened on Monday 5 October with the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, announced at the Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institute. The prize went to Karl Deisseroth, Peter Hegemann and Georg Nagel for their pioneering discoveries in optogenetics.
The Nobel Prize in Physics comes next, on Tuesday 6 October. It will be announced at 11:45 Central European Summer Time (CEST) at the earliest, at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.
The same academy announces the Nobel Prize in Chemistry on Wednesday 7 October, again at 11:45 CEST at the earliest. The Swedish Academy then takes over on Thursday 8 October, when the Nobel Prize in Literature will be announced at 13:00 CEST at the earliest.
The Nobel Peace Prize follows on Friday 9 October. The Norwegian Nobel Committee will announce it at 11:00 CEST at the Norwegian Nobel Institute.

The series closes on Monday 12 October with the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel. The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences will announce it at 11:45 CEST at the earliest.
