Matt Anderson Officially Sworn in as NASA's 16th Deputy Administrator

Washington, (GNP): Matt Anderson was officially sworn as the 16th Deputy Administrator of NASA during a formal ceremony held at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building in Washington. The oath was administrated by NASA administrator Jared Isaacman in the presence of government officials, agency representatives and Anderson’s family, including his wife, Christine Anderson.

This marked as an important step toward leadership for NASA as the agency continues advancing major national and international space initiatives that focused on exploration, science, aeronautics, innovation and other strategic technological development.

Anderson will play an important role in agency’s operations and implementing the President’s national space policy . His responsibility to supporting NASA’s objectives in Lunar exploration, space missions, scientific research, commercial partnership and the continued expansion of America’s presence in space.

NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman welcomed the Anderson with full gratitude and praised toward this operational and aerospace experience.Issacman stated during the ceremony that his experience across the Air Force, Space Command, and the aerospace industry give him a valuable experience to strengthen America’s leadership in space and enter in the next era of exploration.

He emphasized that, Anderson’s experience in high pressure operational environment would help NASA to pursuing ambitious missions and expanding its capabilities in space sciyand exploration. He expressed the high confidence on Anderson’s ability to contribute to NASA’s evolving strategic goals as the agency prepares for complex missions.

Anderson expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the nation through NASA and accept the dedication and professionalism of the agency’s workforce.He stated that, he is honored to serve as the deputy administrator and support the men and woman across NASA who pursue the important work in the world. He said that NASA has been entrusted with a mission of excessive strategic, scientific, economic importance and delivering on that mission will require disciplined execution, technical excellence and a strong culture of accountability.

NASA Associate Administrator Amit Kshatriya also welcomed Anderson’s with full gratitude and expressed his leadership background in military, aerospace, and operational management would bring an valuable experience to the agency.He added NASA got success when we make an combined goals and disciplined team. As Anderson spent his career in complex operational environments where mission success depends on trust .

NASA officials stated , this leadership arrives at an important period for the agency as it continues preparations for future lunar missions, international collaborations, advanced research programs and other long term space exploration projects.Anderson was nominated by President Trump on January 13, 2026 but officially confirmed by the United States on May 18, 2026. His appointment emphasis on making the stronger America’s strategic and scientific leadership in space.
