Latif Afridi’s murder suspect granted two-day physical remand

Peshawar, 17 January 2023 (GNP): Yesterday, Abdul Latif Afridi, a barrister and former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association, was shot and killed outside the Peshawar High Court.

Latif Afridi was in the bar room with attorneys when an unidentified shooter opened fire on him, injuring him and requiring an emergency hospital transfer.

When physicians examined him and found six gunshots in the body, he had already departed away.

The shooter and assailant, known as Adnan Afridi, was allegedly apprehended on the scene, according to SSP Kashif Abbassi, who also claimed to have collected his weapon.

The suspect was handed over to police custody on a two-day physical remand.

Adnan Sami Afridi, the apprehended suspect, was brought in handcuffs by the police on Tuesday to the Judicial Magistrate’s Office in this city. The police asked the court to give the accused a two-day physical detention so they could question him.

Adnan Sami Afridi, the accused, allegedly admitted to killing Abdul Latif Afridi out of personal animosity during the initial questioning, according to the police.

The other day, a shooting within the bar room of the Peshawar High Court claimed the life of senior attorney Abdul Latif Afridi.
