Jeddah Buzzes as Saudi Arabia Meets UAE in Gulf Cup Final

Jeddah (GNP): Jeddah is preparing to host the final of the 27th Arabian Gulf Cup, with large crowds expected from across the Gulf states. Saudi Arabia will face the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Tuesday at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium.

The build-up has already filled the city with visiting supporters. Since the tournament began, it has drawn strong fan engagement both inside and outside the stadiums.

Accompanying events have added to that mood. Visitors have also explored Jeddah’s historical and cultural landmarks alongside attending matches, which has enriched their experience of the city.

Historic Jeddah has emerged as a prominent destination for Gulf fans throughout the competition. Waterfronts, shopping malls and entertainment venues have also recorded increased visitor numbers as supporters gathered to cheer on their national teams.

This atmosphere reflects the tournament‘s role in bringing the peoples of the Gulf together. It highlights the cultural and social dimensions of the competition alongside the sporting action, and it reinforces the Gulf Cup’s status as one of the region’s prominent sporting events.

On the pitch, Saudi Arabia reached the final in commanding fashion. The hosts topped Group A with a perfect record, winning all three matches against Kuwait, Oman and Iraq to collect the maximum nine points.

Their semi-final against Qatar at King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah proved far tighter. The match finished goalless after regulation time, and neither side could score in extra time. Saudi Arabia then won the penalty shootout 3-2, with Mukhtar Ali scoring the winning spot kick late into the Jeddah night.

Standing in their way is the UAE, who booked their place in the final by beating Oman 1-0 in the other semi-final. Forward Ousmane Camara scored the decisive lone goal to cap a disciplined performance.

With the hosts unbeaten in the group stage and the UAE coming off a composed semi-final win, the stage is set for Tuesday’s decider in Jeddah.
