First Lady, Samina Alvi, message on Women’s Day

She claimed that despite difficulties, Pakistani women have always displayed strength. She stressed that the Quran's Surah Nisa has granted the rights to women.

Islamabad, 8 March 2023 (GNP): Samina Alvi, the first lady, has underlined the importance of including women in all aspects of society, especially in commerce, business digitization, and finance, for the advancement of the nation.

On Wednesday, she spoke at a ceremony in Islamabad commemorating “International Women’s Day,” saying that while the proportion of women in Pakistan is already close to 50%, there is still a long way to go in terms of empowerment.

The First Lady stated that this day is a significant chance to reflect on the obstacles that still need to be overcome before women’s rights and equal participation in decision-making in all spheres of public life can be realised.

Samina Alvi said Pakistan is taking concrete steps to allow women equal opportunities to flourish.

She claimed that numerous measures, including the creation of a National Policy for the Development and Empowerment of Women, a National Action Plan on Human Rights, Gender Equality Policy Frameworks, and Women’s Empowerment Packages, have been taken in Pakistan to safeguard and protect the rights of women.
