DG Customs robbed in daylight in Islamabad

Islamabad,11 December, 2023 (GNP): In an unfortunate incident, armed individuals seized the mobile phone of the Director General (DG) of Customs during his walk near the Ramna police station in Islamabad on Sunday. This occurrence has raised worries about the increasing incidents of robberies and thefts in the federal capital.

Reportedly, the Director General parked his car on the roadside and went for a walk. During this time, two armed men on a motorcycle approached him, brandishing a gun. They threatened him and went off with his mobile phone before swiftly leaving the scene.

The DG’s staff member filed a case at the Ramna police station, urging prompt action to apprehend the culprits and retrieve the stolen phone.

The incident occurred amid conflicting reports from the Ministry of Interior regarding crime statistics in Islamabad.

One response asserts no robberies in 2022, while another acknowledges 18 cases. In contrast, a separate report contradicts these figures, citing 3058 registered theft cases in the same year.
