Launching ceremony of a book at historic Quaid-e-Azam Library, Lahore

Lahore, 9 December, 2023 (GNP): A book titled “1000 Words for the New Millennium” by Dr. Abdus Sattar Abbasi from COMSATS University Lahore Campus has been launched in a dignified ceremony at historic Quaid-e-Azam Library, the Mall Lahore.

People from different walks of life participated in the event. Prof. Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmad Gondal from University of Punjab described the author as a ‘messenger of hope’ in the current times of uncertainty.

Mr. Salman Abid, a renowned columnist, stated that the book addresses diverse dimensions of ideological interests, economic opportunities and international priorities of Pakistan. He appreciated author’s insight about economic and governance issues of the country.

He particularly mentioned the importance of articles on Kashmir and Palestine included in the book. Mr. Salman Ghani from Dunya News recognized that the author sensitized readers to extend their role in addressing issues of governance in the country.

He was of the view that we as nation should utilized all our resources to develop our human resource instead of wasting excessive funds on infrastructure projects.

He further urged participants to promote and protect our values of mutual respect and patience to inculcate harmony in the society. Mr. Kashif Manzoor, Director General Public Libraries of Punjab, appreciated insightfulness of columns included in the compendium.

He particularly cherished crisp writing concluding the topic within 1000 words enabling readers to comprehend the topic in a few minutes. He suggested to promote this new genre of 1000 words to facilitate readers in today’s busy environments.

He said that author’s familiarity with the academic research resulted into research based articles which enhances the pleasure of reading. Prof. Dr. (Rtd.) Mian Muhammad Akram admired efforts of the author and hoped to have more such contributions in the days to come.

Dr. Abdus Sattar Abbasi, the author, extended his vote of thanks to the organizers, guests and the participants of the event and expressed his determination to continue such endeavors to contribute to the uplift of the society.
