NEW YORK (GNP): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif arrived in New York on Monday with a compact Pakistani delegation to represent the country at the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
He is accompanied on the trip by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to address the General Assembly on September 25, 2026, where he will outline Pakistan’s stance on the shifting regional and global security landscape, underscoring the importance of dialogue, diplomacy, and peaceful conflict resolution.
He is expected to highlight Pakistan’s active diplomatic and mediation efforts aimed at de-escalating regional tensions and fostering peace and stability, while also laying out the country’s priorities on major global issues such as sustainable development, climate change, counterterrorism, Islamophobia, and global economic challenges.
Sharif is also expected to draw international attention to the long-standing occupation and denial of self-determination faced by the people of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine.
Alongside his General Assembly address, he will take part in several high-level meetings on development, climate action, and other key topics on the sidelines of the session, where he will present Pakistan’s perspective.

He is also set to hold a series of bilateral meetings with various world leaders as well as the UN Secretary-General during his time in New York.
