Deutsche Bank Reaffirms Long-Term Commitment to Pakistan

Islamabad (GNP): Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb met with Jamal Al Kishi, Deutsche Bank’s Regional CEO for the Middle East and Africa, accompanied by Country Manager Ali Haider Zaidi, to discuss Pakistan’s economic trajectory, investment prospects and opportunities to deepen the bank’s engagement with the country.

The Finance Minister briefed the delegation on Pakistan’s recent economic gains and the government’s push to embed structural reforms and build a sustainable, export-driven growth model. He pointed to improvements in the fiscal position, external account and broader macroeconomic stability, along with positive assessments from international rating agencies and partner institutions. He described the recent improvement in Pakistan’s credit profile as a significant milestone and said the government remains focused on further building the country’s standing in global markets.

Al Kishi commended the minister and his team for the progress made over the past two years, particularly in fiscal consolidation, the balance of payments, exports and remittances, saying these gains offer a solid foundation for continued, sustainable economic progress.

On external financing, Aurangzeb outlined Pakistan’s medium-term approach, including efforts to better manage and diversify the country’s external debt profile and deepen ties with international capital markets and financial institutions. He pointed to the fiscal space created by ongoing reforms and stressed the need to broaden access to diverse external financing sources.

The minister also highlighted opportunities to draw greater investment from international and regional partners — particularly Saudi-based firms — in sectors such as infrastructure, energy, oil and gas, utilities, mining and minerals, and technology and blockchain. He emphasized the importance of boosting private-sector participation and facilitating stronger engagement from Saudi multinational companies interested in exploring the Pakistani market.

For his part, Al Kishi reaffirmed Deutsche Bank’s sustained commitment to Pakistan and expressed interest in expanding the bank’s range of services across corporate and investment banking, along with growing its overall exposure and presence in the country. He also noted the bank’s interest in facilitating greater engagement with the MENA region, especially Saudi-based firms, and in exploring investment and financing opportunities across key sectors.
