Trailer for Inspector Jamshed The Secret Parchment Released

Lahore (GNP): The trailer for Inspector Jamshed: The Secret Parchment, the long-awaited film adaptation of Ishtiaq Ahmed’s beloved Urdu novel series, has been released, offering fans their first extended look at the spy adventure headlined by Omair Rana and Ahad Raza Mir.

Released by DRM Production, the trailer delivers on expectations built up since the project was first announced, packed with fast cars, gunfire, secret societies and a central theme of family loyalty carrying the story forward. The film is slated for release in 2027 and marks Rana’s silver screen debut in the titular role of the veteran sleuth.

The story centres on a search for a secret parchment and a string of murders orchestrated by Behzaad, the film’s antagonist, played by Ahad Raza Mir as a character described as both handsome and eccentric. Jamshed does not face this threat alone, drawing support from his three children, Mehmood, Farooq and Farzana, played by Ravel Imran and sibling duo Ahmed and Aline Harkous.

Anoushay Abbasi plays Jamshed’s wife Shakeela, while Asif Raza Mir, who also serves as a co-producer on the project, takes on the role of the inspector’s trusted friend Khan Rehman.

Visually, the trailer leans into the franchise’s action roots, packed with explosions, elaborate gadgets and sweeping shots of Abu Dhabi, where the film was shot. Amid the action, the trailer also hints at emotional stakes for the family at the story’s centre, showing a moment of tension between Jamshed and Shakeela after Behzaad kidnaps their daughter, grounding the spy thriller in a more personal family drama.

The source material behind the film carries significant literary weight in Urdu children’s fiction. The series was created by novelist Ishtiaq Ahmed, who began writing in 1973 and produced close to 800 books over his career before his death in 2015, with the Inspector Jamshed stories following the adventures of a super spy and his three children as they battled evil alongside a wider cast of characters.

His body of work also includes the popular Inspector Kamran Mirza and Shoki Brothers series, cementing his standing as one of the most prolific writers in Urdu literature for young readers.

For much of the cast, the project carries personal significance rooted in that literary legacy. Ahad Raza Mir and Faran Tahir, who plays Zafar Burki in the film, have said in an earlier clip that the project holds special meaning for them since they grew up reading the original books.

Rana has described the production as an experience akin to the whole world coming together, pointing to a cast and crew drawn from more than 13 nationalities as reflective of the film’s international scale.
