Washington, D.C. (GNP): The Embassy of Pakistan held its annual Mango Festival, a signature cultural event that drew hundreds of guests including American officials, members of Congress and their staff, diplomats, think tank representatives, and members of the Pakistani-American community.
The evening centered around Pakistan’s celebrated mango varieties — including Chaunsa, Anwar Ratol, and Sindhri — served in a range of dishes, condiments, and beverages, alongside traditional music, cultural performances, and displays highlighting Pakistan’s heritage.
Remarks from Congressman Zinke
Addressing attendees, Montana Congressman Ryan Zinke, a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and former Navy SEAL, spoke positively about the current state of US-Pakistan relations, describing the relationship between the two governments — and between their people — as being at one of its strongest points ever.
Ambassador’s Remarks
Welcoming guests, Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh described Pakistani mangoes as a symbol of the deepening relationship between the two countries, calling the fruit unmatched in taste and quality. He drew a parallel between Pakistan’s agricultural strength and its broader capabilities, framing the mango’s flavor as a reflection of the country’s agricultural tradition. He invited guests to celebrate what he called the taste of growing friendship between the two nations.
The ambassador also encouraged attendees to take part in the full cultural experience of the evening, which included live dhol drumming and performances that turned the event into a broader celebration of Pakistani culture and cuisine.
Cultural Video Tribute
The event also featured a specially produced video blending American and Pakistani musical traditions — a reimagining of the U.S. national anthem performed in traditional Pakistani musical style. Created as a tribute by the Pakistani-American community, the piece was designed to mark two significant milestones: the 250th anniversary of American independence and 79 years of diplomatic relations between the United States and Pakistan.
