Maiden PSL hundred for Muhammad Rizwan

Skipper Rizwan’s hundred helped Multan Sultans to set a big target of 197 in 20 overs for the loss of 2 wickets.

Multan, 22 Feb 2023 (GNP):  Multan Sultan’s Captain, Muhammad Rizwan scored his maiden PSL century against Karachi Kings at Multan Cricket Stadium.

Batting first at the home ground, skipper Muhammad Rizwan led the team from the front. After Shan Masood’s half century, the two batters- Rossouw and Rizwan, put on a sensational partnership of 109 runs, 77 runs out of which belongs to Rizwan.

Captain of Multan Sultans brought up his first PSL hundred in the 19th over of the game. He scored career’s best 110 runs off 64 balls by smashing 3 sixes and 10 fours, with a healthy strike rate of 171.88.

Rizwan dominated the spin of Imran Tahir and Shoaib Malik with sweep shots.

Completing his century in 60 balls, Rizwan made a new record by taking only 18 balls to go from 50 to 100. In the history of the PSL, this is the fastest acceleration from 50 to 100 by any Pakistani player.

In addition to providing his team with a strong foundation to build on, Muhammad Rizwan treated the fans at Multan Cricket Stadium with an excellent innings.

This is Rizwan’s second century in T20 cricket. Rizwan is currently the highest run-scorer in PSL season 8 with 329 runs at an average of 109.66 and a strike rate of 144. He has 3 fifties and 1 century under his belt in just 5 games.

Multan Sultans pulled off a sensational three-run victory over Karachi Kings at the last ball of the match. After losing their opening match against the defending champions Lahore Qalandars, Sultans now have four consecutive wins in their 5 matches. With 8 points, Multan Sultans are at the top of the points table.

In the post match ceremony Muhammad Rizwan said, “the team would play with the same momentum to continue the winning streak in the next matches going to be played at other venues”.

The sixth match of the Multan Sultans will take place on Sunday, February 26 at National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi.
