Pakistani Media is playing an important role in highlighting Kashmir Cause and Soft Image of Pakistan – Faisal Javed

Islamabad, October 9th, 2019: (GNP) Pakistani media has highlighted Kashmir issue at the best possible level at the larger global scale. Role and responsibility of media specially all kinds of media in Pakistan is manifold as they need to promote the cause of Kashmir on robust level. These were the remarks by Senator Faisal Javed, Chairman, Senate Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting. Senator Faisal further said that Pakistani media played a very critical role to highlight the Kashmir issue and its tremendous efforts cannot be neglected. Pakistani media needs to broadcast English packages to spread the message of Pakistan across the borders. Prime Minister Imran Khan proposed recently the English News channel with the collaboration with Malaysia and Turkey to address these issues. Prime Minister Imran Khan is the Ambassador for Kashmir Cause and Ambassador of Kashmir. We are leaving no stone unturned to highlight the issue at the global stage.

In her talk, Dr. Sadia Kamal, Senior Vice President, National Press Club said that the Kashmir Conflict has recently got international community attention after Prime Minister Imran Khan’s address to the United Nations General Assembly. Pakistani Media is playing also a significant role in highlighting the humanitarian crises in Kashmir and Islamabad Press Club also arranged different seminars and protest in the solidarity with Kashmiri people, she added.  Prof. Dr. Masoor Alam Khan, Head of Media Studies, Riphah University Islamabad said that Media portraits the most sensitive issue of Kashmir dispute in the country and subsequently mediated through interpersonal discourse to develop their social consensus. Mr. Rashad Bukhari, a senior analyst has said that Kashmir has become one of the largest jail in the world. It is the moral duty of national and international media to highlight the concerns of the Kashmiri people. There is a strong need to keep the humanitarian aspect and position on all the national and international forums about Kashmir.

Ms. Farhat Asif, President, Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies (IPD) said ‘IPD arranges seminars, conferences, workshops, and event in collaboration with Missions, Governmental Departments and organization for the promotion of peace, tolerance and coexistence. While introducing the Riphah University Islamabad, Dr. Rashid Aftab, Director, Riphah Institute of Public Policy, said that initially, the Riphah medical institute was established with an aim to provide quality education without profit. Now we have offered different undergraduate and graduate in diverse discipline ranging from Medical to Management Sciences.

Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies in collaboration organized a seminar on ‘Role and Responsibility of Media in Highlighting Kashmir Dispute’ in collaboration with  Riphah Institute for Public Policy, Riphah International University Islamabad. Senator Faisal Javed, Chief Guest, Chairman, Senate Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting graced the event as Chief Guest.

The seminar was attended by a large number of diplomats, Ambassadors, academicians, students, faculty members and people from different walks of life. GNP
