SUPARCO Announces Expected Moon Sighting for ZilHajj

Islamabad (GNP): The Pakistan Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has announced that the new moon of Zilhajj 1447 AH is expected to be born on 17 May 2026 at 01:01 PST.

At the time of sunset on 17 May 2026, the age of the new moon will be approximately 18 hours and 30 minutes, with an estimated 60-minutes interval between sunset and moonset along Pakistan’s coastal belt.

Based on these astronomical parameters, the chances of sighting the Zilhajj crescent on the evening of 17 May 2026 are comsidered favorable, subject to clear weather conditions and visibility near the horizon. Consequently, the 1st Zilhajj 1447 AH is anticipated to fall on Monday, 18 May 2026, marking the conclusion of the holy month of Zilquadh; Eid ul Azha will fall on the 27th of May 2026.
