Rawalpindi (GNP): Security forces killed eight militants affiliated with the Indian-sponsored Fitna al-Khwarij group during an operation in Hangu district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to the military’s media wing.
An exchange of fire broke out between a security forces convoy and the militants in Hangu, resulting in the deaths of eight fighters linked to the Indian-backed group following an effective engagement by troops.
However, the intense firefight also claimed the lives of two officers leading their men from the frontlines — Captain Abuzar Farooq, 23, from Gujranwala District, and Lieutenant Sheraz Babar, 22, from Chakwal District — who were martyred alongside four soldiers under their command while fighting valiantly.
Clearance operations are continuing in the area to eliminate any remaining Indian-sponsored militants, as part of Pakistan’s ongoing counter-terrorism campaign under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” framework, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan. Security forces and law enforcement agencies said the campaign will continue at full pace to root out foreign-sponsored terrorism, adding that the sacrifices of these soldiers further strengthen the nation’s unwavering resolve to protect the country at any cost.
