Saudi-Led Air Defence Down Three Missiles and Four Drones

Riyadh (GNP): The Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen said on Tuesday that its air defences had intercepted and destroyed three ballistic missiles and four unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) launched by the Houthi militia, which the coalition describes as terrorist.

Coalition spokesperson Major General Turki Al-Malki announced the interceptions in two separate statements. One covered the three ballistic missiles and the other covered the four UAVs.

The latest incident is the newest in a run of similar attacks reported over recent days. On October 26, the coalition said it had intercepted and destroyed three UAVs over Riyadh and the southern regions. It also reported shooting down a ballistic missile launched towards Riyadh.

The coalition did not stop at defence on that day. Al-Malki said forces destroyed two missile launchers in Sanaa, and one of them had been used to fire the missile at Riyadh.

A wider operation followed. In a separate statement on October 26, Al-Malki said the coalition had struck military facilities in areas held by the Houthi militia in Yemen.

He said the operation destroyed five tunnels used to store missiles, four missile launchers and a missile storage facility.

According to the spokesperson, the strikes also hit supply lines, fortifications and military equipment along front lines inside Yemen.

Taken together, the interceptions and strikes show a coalition working to stop attacks in the air while also targeting the sites from which they are launched. Al-Malki said the coalition would continue its deterrent operational measures.

Al-Malki said, “The coalition will continue deterrent measures to protect civilians and civilian objects from Houthi attacks.”
