Riyadh, 21 October 2023 (GNP): Prince Faisal bin Farhan, the foreign minister of Saudi Arabia, denounced on Saturday the UN Security Council’s inability to approve a resolution requesting a cease-fire in Gaza.
He demanded that secure humanitarian corridors be opened right now to facilitate the unhindered supply of medical supplies and relief aid as well as the evacuation of the injured.
Speaking on the Gaza situation, Prince Faisal appeared at the Cairo Peace Summit in Egypt. Speaking on behalf of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, he led the delegation from the Kingdom.

As the third week of the Israel-Hamas conflict approaches, its effects are being felt globally. Israel’s counteroffensive resulted in the deaths of more than 4,100 Palestinians.
According to Prince Faisal, the terrible events occurring in Palestine demand immediate cease fire, protection of civilians, and adherence to common humanitarian standards, and international law.

Saudi Arabia denounced targeting of civilians by Israel, and Prince Faisal emphasized the Kingdom’s adamant rejection of violations of international humanitarian law by any party and under any pretext. He also called on the international community to take a strong stand and compel Israel to abide by international humanitarian law.
“We call on the international community to put pressure on the Israeli side to lift the siege and stop the military operations that have claimed the lives of innocent people and threaten undesirable consequences for regional and international security, and stability,” he said.
According to the Saudi foreign minister, the Kingdom supports the Palestinian people in their efforts to reclaim their rightful state and lawful rights.
“To create the right conditions for working toward peace, the Kingdom’s top priority is to immediately stop the military escalation and the bloodshed and to provide relief to those affected,” he continued.
The chief diplomat of Saudi Arabia praised Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and his administration for improving regional and global cooperation over the events in Gaza.
To debate the situation in Palestine and to work on opening humanitarian corridors, several significant nations and international organizations are attending the summit.
