Seoul (GNP): Red Sea Labs, part of the Red Sea Film Foundation, has continued the seventh edition of its Feature Films Program in the South Korean capital, working in partnership with Film Independent. The Seoul leg gives participating filmmakers a hands-on stage in the programme’s wider development journey.
The programme brings together filmmakers from Saudi Arabia, the Arab world, Asia and Africa. Its purpose is to support emerging talent and help them move their film projects forward.
This edition features 12 projects, made up of three from Saudi Arabia and nine from other countries. Each one follows a specialized development track covering screenwriting, directing and production, guided by film industry experts and professionals.
In Seoul, the teams took part in a series of workshops and specialised sessions on project development. These also served as a space for sharing knowledge with industry professionals. The activities were designed to strengthen the creative and professional sides of each project and prepare them for production and marketing.

The Seoul stop also included a discussion in the “Inspire” series. It explored how stories rooted in local environments and cultures can reach global audiences while keeping their authenticity and cultural identity.
That focus on reaching international audiences runs through the whole programme. It aims to prepare projects for global film markets and to connect their teams with producers, distributors and potential supporters.
The journey does not end in Seoul. The teams will continue their development in Los Angeles, then present their projects at the Red Sea Souk during the next edition of the Red Sea International Film Festival.
