Islamabad (GNP): Marking World Teachers’ Day, the President extended greetings and appreciation to educators across Pakistan and around the world for their contributions to education, human development, and nation-building.
In his message, the President described teachers as central to any education system, noting that they impart knowledge, nurture curiosity, shape character, and help young people develop the skills and values needed to become responsible, productive members of society — their influence extending well beyond the classroom into families and communities.
He noted that this year’s observance carries special significance, marking the 60th anniversary of the 1966 ILO/UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers. He highlighted this year’s theme, centered on standing with teachers and protecting the profession over six decades, as a reminder of the need to recognize teachers’ importance and provide them with proper professional support and opportunities.
For Pakistan, he said, strengthening the teaching profession is essential to improving education quality and expanding opportunities for children and young people, stressing the need for continued investment in teacher education, professional development, and supportive learning environments to help teachers meet the evolving needs of their students.
The President acknowledged that rapid technological advancement, including the growing use of artificial intelligence, is reshaping how education is delivered. While technology can support teaching and learning, he said, it cannot replace the human qualities teachers bring to the classroom — empathy, mentorship, ethical guidance, and the ability to understand and inspire students. He called for teachers to be supported in adopting new technologies while keeping the human relationship between teacher and student at the heart of education.
He paid particular tribute to teachers working in remote, underserved, and challenging communities, noting that for many children, the quality of their education depends directly on the dedication of their teacher. Ensuring these educators have adequate training, resources, and working conditions, he said, is essential to giving every child a fair chance to learn and grow.
The President called on governments, educational institutions, parents, communities, civil society, and the private sector to work together in strengthening and respecting the teaching
profession, describing support for teachers as an investment in Pakistan’s education and future.

He concluded by paying tribute to all Pakistani teachers for their dedication, patience, and service, noting that their work shapes the knowledge, character, and aspirations of the generations who will build the country, and prayed for their wellbeing and for guidance in the collective effort to provide every child with quality education.
