Beijing (GNP): Philemon Yang, President of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), is visiting Beijing, China, for an official visit. The President Yang was invited by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi. His visit to Beijing lasts 3 days from October 30 to November 3.
The President of the UNGA Philemon Yang shared a statement about his arrival in Beijing and said, “Pleased to have arrived in Beijing for an official visit to the People’s Republic of China.”
Moreover, he added, “I look forward to meeting with the country’s leadership and to discussing the priorities of the 79th session of #UNGA, particularly as they relate to ongoing global challenges.”

Responding to the President of UNGA, Philemon Yang, the UN Resident Coordinator in China Siddharth Chatterjee said, “Delighted to welcome Philémon Yan, President of the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly to Beijing.”
Additionally, he mentioned the foundational principle of Philemon Yang during his one-year principle as President of the UNGA which is “Unity in diversity, for the advancement of peace, sustainable development and human dignity for everyone, everywhere.”

During this visit, Philemon Yang, the President of the UNGA, met the Chinese Vice President Han Zheng. Chinese Vice President Han said that China actively supports the “cause” of the United States which is multilateralism.

Additionally, he pointed toward the 80th anniversary of the founding of the UN next year and said that China respects the UN’s authority and status, and actively takes part in its reform and development of global governance to make the system “just and equitable.”
Philemon Yang, the President of UNGA, assured Vice President Han of the UN General Assembly Resolution 2759 and sticking to the “One-China Principle.” He also expressed the “hope of strengthening cooperation with China” and “safeguarding international peace and promoting common development.”
