Peshawar mosque bomber wore police uniform- IG

Police identified the terrorist and he had been traced by Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) footage.

Peshawar, 2 February 2023 (GNP): The Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Moazzam Jah Ansari, addressed a press conference in Peshawar on Thursday in which he revealed the initial findings of terrorists who were involved in the Mosque blast directly in Police Line, Peshawar. Police identified the terrorist, and he had been traced by Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) footage. He had matches with his body samples.

A terrorist came on a motorbike and wore a police uniform and mask. When he entered Police Line Peshawar, he met the police constable and asked about the Mosque and prayer time. The constable didn’t identify him due to the police uniform, the IG added.

The IG said that all the footage had been collected and investigations were going on to find out the mastermind of that attack. The suicide explosion was impossible without a mastermind and facilitation. We are close to the terrorists and will apprehend them as soon as possible.

Furthermore, the Police Chief said that a drone strike and improvised explosive device (IED) had not been used in the Mosque attack. He rejected all the rumours and speculations regarding the Police Line incident.

IG Ansari assured that the blood of martyrs would not be wasted. He requested time for investigations and to find out the actual details of terrorists. He knows his constable (Jawan) grievances. He gave substantial details in a press briefing and said that it was a suicide blast on worshipers in Peshawar Police Line Mosque and couldn’t be forgotten.
