PEMRA Grants FM Radio Licence to ICCI

Islamabad (GNP): The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) has been awarded an FM radio licence by the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), allowing Pakistan’s leading business chamber to launch its own radio platform focused on promoting entrepreneurship, investment, and economic awareness.

The licence was formally handed to ICCI President Sardar Tahir Mehmood by PEMRA Chairperson Ambreen Jan at PEMRA’s headquarters, with Executive Director General Wakil Khan, Director General Faqir Afzal Khan, and Deputy Director Hassan Durrani also in attendance.

PEMRA’s Remarks

Chairperson Jan congratulated ICCI on securing the licence and acknowledged the chamber’s role in supporting economic development and the business community. She expressed confidence that the new radio platform would become a credible source of business information, helping promote entrepreneurship, investment, and meaningful discussion on issues affecting Pakistan’s economy, and said the initiative would meaningfully support businesses and contribute to national economic growth.

ICCI’s Vision for the Platform

Mehmood called the licence a landmark achievement for the chamber, describing it as a reflection of ICCI’s commitment to using modern communication tools to better serve entrepreneurs, small and medium enterprises, exporters, and the broader business community. He said the station would air programming covering trade, taxation, investment opportunities, entrepreneurship, innovation, and government policy, while giving the private sector a credible platform to voice its concerns and priorities.

He also highlighted ICCI’s continued efforts to advocate for policy reform, improve the investment climate, and strengthen dialogue between the public and private sectors to support a more business-friendly environment.

ICCI Secretary General Ghulam Murtaza added that the radio platform would help raise awareness, ensure timely dissemination of business-related information, and connect entrepreneurs with relevant institutions and stakeholders.
