Pakistan to sign agreement of IMF deal this month

Despite the situation of having low foreign exchange reserves, the PM of Pakistan has said that once matters with the IMF are concluded, other multilateral and bilateral institutions will work with Pakistan.

Islamabad, 27 January 2023 (GNP): Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, announced to the public that Pakistan will sign the agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) by the end of this month, which had been delayed due to some financial complications.

He announced the news while addressing the inauguration ceremony of the Green Line Express Train Service at Margalla Train Station.

“I am confident that we will reach an agreement with the IMF this month and will come out of these difficulties soon.” – Shahbaz Sharif stated at the conference.

PM Shahbaz Sharif, during his conference, also disclosed that the administration had created a list of goods that must be urgently imported since they are all ‘essential’. Food products and medical supplies are included in the list.

He said that while this road is difficult, it is not impossible and questioned how long Pakistan will depend on others to manage its affairs. He emphasized: “We will have to labour day and night to get out of this dilemma.”
