High Commission of Malaysia in Islamabad hosted a “Hi-Tea” reception to engage with the media and friends of Malaysia in Pakistan. The event brought together a diverse group of distinguished guests, including Journalists, representatives from chambers of commerce, government stakeholders, and long-standing friends of Malaysia.

The gathering served as a platform to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Malaysia and Pakistan, reflecting the shared commitment of both nations to deepen bilateral relations.

In his opening remarks, His Excellency Ambassador Dato’ Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Pakistan, warmly welcomed all media personnel and expressed his appreciation for their continued support and engagement in fostering Malaysia-Pakistan relations. His Excellency emphasized that Malaysia and Pakistan share a long-standing and cordial relationship, founded on mutual respect, shared values, and a common aspiration for prosperity and progress.

He noted that Pakistan’s population of around 250 million, with its large and youthful demographic, offers significant opportunities for partnership. In comparison, Malaysia has a population of about 34 million, while the ASEAN bloc, comprising 11 member states, represents a combined market of nearly 680 million people.

The High Commissioner said that these demographic strengths create enormous potential for Pakistan and ASEAN countries to collaborate for mutual benefit. By sharing expertise and resources, both sides can build stronger economic and trade partnerships that contribute to regional growth and prosperity.

Emphasizing the complementary nature of Pakistan-Malaysia relations, he observed that the two countries possess strengths that can address each other’s needs. He particularly highlighted food security, noting that Malaysia requires greater food supplies, while Pakistan’s strong agricultural sector can help meet this demand.

He expressed confidence that enhanced cooperation between Pakistan, Malaysia, and the broader ASEAN region would create new opportunities for trade, investment, and sustainable development, benefiting all partners involved.

The event provided an excellent opportunity for participants to network, exchange views, and explore avenues for future collaboration. It also underscored Malaysia’s continued commitment to engaging with key partners and stakeholders in Pakistan, in pursuit of shared goals and mutual prosperity.
