Pak-China signed MoU for agriculture services

Karachi, 19 Aug, 2023 (GNP): Syngenta Pakistan and China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for seeds, pesticides and agriculture services in chili, corn, tomato and sesame cultivation, according to the sources.

The two leading companies have joined forces to lead the charge toward sustainable food systems. The partnership focuses on bridging the gap between small-scale farmers and robust value chains, enhancing efficiency and food security, sources said.

As per sources, CMEC’s Vice General Manager in Pakistan, Dai Bao, highlighted the initiative’s importance during an interview. The MoU signing ceremony took place at FoodAg 2023, Pakistan’s first International Food and Agriculture Exhibition in Karachi.

The event was a hub for agricultural advancements, where several other MoUs were also inked, as reported by the sources.

On the outskirts of the expo, the Chief Executive (CE) of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) and Commerce Secretary engaged in discussions with international delegations to enhance trade ties and introduced Pakistan as one of the top ten global producers of agricultural products.

The conversations extended beyond exports, encompassing ethical and smart farming practices, livestock treatment, and by-product exports.

FoodAg 2023 spanned three days, showcasing 400+ products, and engaging 200+ exhibitors and 400+ international buyers to highlight the untapped potential of Pakistan’s food agriculture industry.
