Singapore (GNP): Netflix APAC Content 2026 has reached a major milestone, as titles from the Asia Pacific region now make up more than half of Netflix’s weekly Global Top 10 non English title lists, a sharp rise from around 30 percent in 2021. The streaming giant marked ten years of bringing Asian stories to global audiences, celebrating a journey that has fundamentally changed how the world watches and connects with stories from this part of the globe.
Minyoung Kim, Vice President of Content for Asia Pacific excluding India, and Monika Shergill, Vice President of India Content, shared that ten years ago the biggest question was whether stories from Asia Pacific could travel beyond their home markets. Today, audiences answer that question every single week. Since 2019, viewing hours of Netflix APAC Content 2026 have quadrupled, showing just how dramatically global appetite for these stories has grown over a relatively short period of time.
When Netflix became available in more than 190 countries back in 2016, the company understood that being truly global meant being deeply local. This philosophy has shaped how Netflix approaches storytelling in the region, built on strong partnerships with creators and creative communities who deeply understand the cultures, languages, and places their stories come from. Since 2020, Netflix has worked with more than 300 production companies across Asia Pacific, and from 2016 to 2025, its productions have spanned more than 650 locations across the region, each shaped by local talent, businesses, and communities.
Netflix APAC Content 2026 success can be seen clearly across multiple countries and genres. Japanese anime is now watched by more than half of all Netflix members globally, reflecting the massive worldwide appeal of this unique storytelling form. Films from Thailand and Indonesia have reached number one on Netflix’s Global Top 10 non English title lists, proving that powerful stories can come from anywhere and find audiences everywhere.
Chinese language content continues to gain strong momentum, with titles such as Pursuit of Jade capturing global attention. Indian films have appeared in Netflix’s Global Top 10 every single week since the beginning of 2024, a clear reflection of the country’s creative excellence and deep passion for filmmaking.
Netflix has been careful to point out that it did not invent storytelling in the Asia Pacific region. The company describes itself as privileged to amplify these stories on a global stage that allows them to reach audiences who may never have encountered them otherwise. The Netflix APAC Content 2026 milestone represents the culmination of a decade long commitment to investing in local talent and giving creators the platform and resources they need to tell their stories authentically.

Looking ahead, Netflix has made clear that the next ten years will be just as important as the first. The company believes that the future of global entertainment will not simply include the Asia Pacific region but will be genuinely shaped by the writers, directors, crews, and creative partners across the region who are already imagining the next great global story.
This forward looking approach suggests that the growth seen in Netflix APAC Content 2026 is only the beginning of a much longer and deeper relationship between Netflix and the creative communities of Asia Pacific.
As streaming continues to reshape the global entertainment landscape, the success of APAC stories on Netflix offers a powerful example of how authentic, locally rooted storytelling can resonate with audiences far beyond its country of origin, proving that great stories truly have no borders.
