Islamabad, 17 June, 2023 (GNP): Chairman National Disaster Management Authority(NDMA), Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik on Friday inaugurated the first-ever Pakistan Expo on Disaster Risk Reduction, scheduled to take place from 12-14 July.
According to a news release, government officials, representatives from international partners, humanitarian organizations, academia, media, and members of the private sector attended the inaugural event.
The expo targets at highlighting the country’s remarkable progress and vast potential across various sectors. Furthermore, it aims to bring together industry leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs on a grand platform.
The PEDRR-23 initiative by NDMA also aims to promote awareness and resilience to disasters in Pakistan. It will serve as a platform to showcase the latest technologies and innovations in disaster risk reduction, facilitating networking and sharing of best practices among stakeholders.
The expo will encompass academic conferences, seminars, exhibitions, and youth competitions, ensuring broad participation from the public, youth, and institutions.
The Chairman of NDMA emphasized the initiative’s impact and expressed gratitude to participants for joining as partners in transforming NDMA into a proactive organization.
Moreover, he highlighted the significance of proactive planning, predictive modeling for vulnerable communities, and global collaboration to develop cost-effective solutions for pre and post-disaster periods.
The event welcomes all stakeholders in the field of Disaster Management, including professionals, entrepreneurs, students, local and international NGOs, and the general public, to contribute their experiences.
