Multi-tasking: combat sport and medicine

Syed Muhammad Qaim Abass Naqvi has carved out a name for himself in the niche world of ‘clinical revolution’ and at the same time is a sportsman of global repute. This rare mix is a testimony of his skills, and the careful blend of culture, ethics and modern day education. His prime objective is international medicine, as he draws inspiration from his illustrious mother who is herself an illustrious expert in alternate medicine.  Born in 2001, Qaim is studying medicine at the University of Debrecen, while at the same time is a name to be reckoned with in ‘combat’ sports, particularly mixed martial arts. He is a Warrior-Scholar who understands the physical and psychological demands of excellence.

Qaim is the co-founder of Real World Fight League, a promotion focused on developing MMA from the grassroots level, often operating under the Pak MMA Federation. He has been instrumental in organizing local professional MMA events in Pakistan. Alongside co-founder Muhammad Baig, Qaim has come a long way in pushing the envelope of this extinct sport in schools. Partnering with the Brave Gym and the Pakistan Mixed Martial Arts Federation (PMMAF), he has been able to provide a platform for over 1,000 competitors, effectively transitioning MMA into a mainstream activity in Pakistan like any other popular sport. It was duly acknowledged at the IMMAF World Championships in Georgia, where RealWorld was nominated for its leadership in sustainability, setting a global precedent for how combat sports organizations can balance rapid growth with social responsibility.

Serving as the Operations Lead since 2023, Qaim played a big role in the World Asian championships. This landmark event saw over hundred international athletes and staff come to Pakistan. Likewise, he led operations for the 2025 Pakistan Open MMA Championship, the largest national tournament in the country’s history. His ability to manage the logistics of a nationwide selection process while maintaining his status as a medical student demonstrates a level of world-class compartmentalisation that has rightly caught the attention of international observers.

His achievements are many securing victories across three different weight classes. He was outstanding as he fought athletes from England, Hungary, and Tajikistan. In 2026, he became the first person in Pakistan’s history to claim an official K1 Kickboxing Amateur Welterweight win. The impact of his work was globally recognized when the projects he helped lead were nominated for a Sustainability Award at the World Championships in Georgia. His personal leadership has also been tapped by the Serbian-Pakistani Ambassador for the Serbian Infinity Festival, and he served as a vital voice in the Pakistan Youth Assembly (2024-2025).

As he prepares to scale new heights of success, especially his medical degree in the United States, Qaim understands his multitasking very well. Even his critics and contemporaries say he is outstanding whether in the operating room, the boardroom, or the sporting ring. He leads from the front, and is exceptionally a fighter with no looking back.
