Morocco Marks 27 Years of King Mohammed VI’s Reign on Throne Day Islamabad (GNP): The Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Islamabad hosted a reception to commemorate the 27th Anniversary of the Accession of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to the Throne. The event was hosted by H.E. Mohamed Karmoune, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Pakistan, and brought together a large gathering of diplomats, government officials, parliamentarians, members of the business community, civil and military officials, civil society representatives, and media personnel. Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik attended the ceremony as the chief guest. He joined Ambassador Mohamed Karmoune and other distinguished guests in cutting a commemorative cake to mark the occasion. The reception reflected the enduring friendship between Pakistan and Morocco and reaffirmed the shared commitment of both countries to strengthening diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties. Among those present were the Honorary Consuls of Morocco in Karachi and Lahore, ambassadors, defence attachés from various countries, parliamentarians, senior civil and military officials, members of civil society, business leaders, and journalists community. In his welcome address, Ambassador Mohamed Karmoune highlighted Morocco's remarkable economic and social progress achieved under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI since his accession to the throne. He noted that despite global economic challenges and international crises, Morocco has succeeded in building a more competitive, diversified, and open economy. The Ambassador said that Morocco's industrial exports have more than doubled since 2014, particularly in the automotive, aviation, renewable energy, food processing, and tourism sectors. These industries have become major drivers of investment, employment, and sustainable economic growth. He further stated that Morocco has emerged as a strategic economic partner with access to nearly three billion consumers worldwide through an extensive network of free trade agreements. The country is currently implementing several large-scale development projects in water management, desalination, food security, infrastructure, and energy sovereignty, all aimed at improving the quality of life for citizens across the country. Ambassador Karmoune invited Pakistani investors and entrepreneurs to explore investment opportunities in Morocco, either by participating in these major development projects or by establishing businesses that could benefit from Morocco's investor-friendly environment and its access to international markets. Emphasizing the importance of bilateral cooperation, he said Pakistan and Morocco should further strengthen their relations through increased high-level exchanges and collaboration across multiple sectors to create long-term partnerships between the two brotherly nations. He also announced that both countries are expected to hold a series of high-level meetings to expand cooperation in various fields, enhance bilateral trade, increase imports and exports, and identify industries where Moroccan and Pakistani businesses can work together more closely.
