California, 6 July, 2023 (GNP): In a remarkable feat, Meta’s newly launched Threads app has attracted an impressive 30 million users on its first day, according to Mark Zuckerberg, the company’s chief.
Positioned as a friendly rival to Twitter, Threads offers features similar to its counterpart and has the potential to entice disgruntled Twitter users unhappy with recent changes to the platform.

Threads allow users to express themselves through posts of up to 500 characters, enabling public conversations and interactions. Mark Zuckerberg emphasized the importance of maintaining a friendly environment as the key to the app’s success. Despite the positive response, Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino expressed confidence in Twitter’s irreplaceable community.
In response to comparisons between Threads and other social media platforms, Elon Musk, who recently acquired Twitter, expressed his preference for the candid nature of Twitter discussions compared to the happiness found on Instagram.
When asked about the app’s potential to surpass Twitter’s reach, Mark Zuckerberg acknowledged that it would take time but envisioned Threads as a platform with over one billion users engaged in public conversations. He expressed hope that Threads would succeed where Twitter might have fell short in creating a vibrant and inclusive community.
The launch of Threads has received widespread acclaim, with many perceiving it as a much-needed competitor to Twitter. However, competitors have raised concerns regarding the app’s data usage, including the collection of health, financial, and browsing data tied to user identities, as reported by the Apple App Store.
Users have also expressed apprehension about the inability to delete a Threads profile without deleting the associated Instagram account. Meta has acknowledged this concern and confirmed that they are actively working on addressing this issue.

As of now, Threads is available for download in over 100 countries, including the UK. However, its release in the EU is pending regulatory considerations.
