Islamabad (GNP): Speaker of the People’s Majlis of the Republic of Maldives, Abdul Raheem Abdulla, arrived in Islamabad on an official visit, leading a parliamentary delegation to Pakistan.
He and members of the delegation were welcomed upon arrival at Islamabad International Airport by MNA Shaista Khan, Convener of the Pak-Maldives Parliamentary Friendship Group (PFG), along with senior officials from the National Assembly Secretariat.
During the visit, the delegation is set to meet with the Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly, members of the Pak-Maldives Parliamentary Friendship Group, and members of the Women Parliamentary Caucus (WPC).
The itinerary also includes a visit and briefing at the SDGs Secretariat, as well as engagements with members of the Parliamentary Caucus on Child Rights and the Young Parliamentary Forum (YPF).

The visit underscores the role of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening ties between legislatures and encouraging constructive dialogue and cooperation. It also offers an opportunity to further deepen the parliamentary relationship between Pakistan and the Maldives, built on mutual respect, shared values, cultural affinity, and a joint commitment to expanding cooperation.
