Israel’s operations in Jenin spurs concerns on civilian casualties

West Bank, 29 November, 2023 (GNP):  Amidst talks to extend the truce between Israel and Hamas, the Israeli army’s operation in the Jenin refugee camp has led to widespread destruction and the loss of lives, including innocent children.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the Israeli forces’ raid in the area led to the unfortunate deaths of four Palestinians, including the two young boys.

Adam Samer al-Ghoul, aged 9, succumbed to a fatal head injury, while Basil Suleiman Abu al-Wafa, aged 15, tragically lost his life after being shot in the chest.

Reports from Palestinian news agency Wafa, citing security and local sources, highlight the distressing situation faced by residents of the ad-Damj neighborhood.

Additionally, the use of aerial bombardment targeting a residential house through drone strikes, as detailed in the report, has added to the escalating concerns over civilian safety and well-being in the region.

In response to inquiries, a joint statement by the Border Police, Israeli army, and Shin Bet security agency acknowledged the operation’s objective as targeting individuals reportedly involved in armed resistance.

The statement confirmed the deaths of two individuals, Muhammad Zubeidi and Hussam Hanoun, described as key figures in the area. Regrettably, it also acknowledged the loss of two more lives during clashes in the region.
