Mexico City, 3 March 2023 (GNP): Irma Serrano, a Mexican singer, actress and politician has passed away at the age of 89.
She died on 1 March 2023, Wednesday and her cause of death has been identified as a heart attack. The news of her passing has been shared by the Mexican performers’ association which said: “We send our deepest condolences to his family and friends.”
Irma Serrano was born on 9 December 1933 in Mexico. Serrano reached peaks of success as an actor and producer in a number of contentious theatrical plays during the 1970s and 1980s, particularly Naná (1973).
She entered politics in the 1990s and held a position in the Mexican Senate. She was the subject of numerous scandals and controversies in her later years.

Because of her political career as a Senator for her native state of Chiapas from 1994 to 1997, she frequently appeared in celebrity gossip publications and television programs. She was known as ‘La Tigresa’ (the tigress) for her extra-ordinary and iconic dressing and makeup. She was one of the few surviving actresses from the Golden Age of Mexican cinema at the time of her passing.
