New York, 1 February 2023 (GNP): There is increasing competition for AI dominance. In particular, OpenAI’s ChatGPT seems to be drawing Google’s ire due to the unexpected surge in the popularity of AI-powered chatbot systems.
The New York Times recently reported that Google has set aside plans to show a version of its search engine with chatbot characteristics this year, along with more than 20 AI-powered projects, all of which will assist in bolstering its current portfolio and combat the growing threat.
The most recent improvements were released just one month after Google’s top management issued a ‘code red’ warning to combat the hugely popular OpenAI AI chatbot.

Microsoft recently announced its third round of partnership with Open-AI, the company that created ChatGPT, adding to Google’s worries. Microsoft also reportedly has plans to incorporate ChatGPT into its own search engine, Bing. The tech juggernaut will have some fierce competition, though.
Google’s chatbot search engine project is moving forward after the company recently asked its co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin for assistance. The New York Times reports that Page and Brin were both asked to advise corporate leaders and talk about various strategies to deal with the escalating competition. The story also states that ‘getting facts correct, assuring the safety, and getting rid of misinformation’ will be the emphasis of Google’s chatbot presentation.
