Islamabad(GNP): Acting President Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said China’s extraordinary development under the Communist Party of China (CPC) demonstrates the value of strong institutions, long-term planning, and effective governance.
Gilani made the remarks while addressing a special seminar organized by the Pakistan-China Economic and Cultural Council (PCECC) to commemorate the 105th anniversary of the CPC’s founding. The event brought together senior Pakistani political figures, lawmakers, diplomats, policy experts, and representatives from the Chinese Embassy to discuss the global relevance of Xi Jinping’s “Thought on Party Building” and the long-standing Pakistan-China relationship.
He noted that the CPC has shown remarkable institutional endurance over more than a century, steering China through a historic economic transformation that lifted hundreds of millions out of poverty — an achievement he said has meaningfully contributed to global development.
Gilani observed that Xi Jinping’s “Thought on Party Building” places strong emphasis on internal reform, accountability, and combating corruption, adding that these principles hold valuable lessons for political parties and institutions across the Global South. He said lasting institutions must remain answerable to the public, continuously evolve, and convert political stability into tangible development benefits for citizens.

Reaffirming Pakistan-China Ties
The acting president described Pakistan-China relations as an “Iron Brotherhood” grounded in mutual trust, shared interests, and strategic cooperation, crediting the vision of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Chairman Mao Zedong, and Premier Zhou Enlai for laying the groundwork of the partnership.
He pointed to the expanding scope of bilateral cooperation across defense, trade, infrastructure, education, health, and cultural exchange, highlighting the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor as central to regional connectivity and economic growth. He also acknowledged China’s consistent support for Pakistan during natural disasters and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Gilani said significant opportunities remain for the two countries to deepen collaboration in trade, technology, clean energy, and parliamentary exchanges. He commended the organizers for hosting the seminar and, on behalf of the people of Pakistan, extended congratulations to the CPC and the Chinese people on the party’s 105th founding anniversary.
The seminar also featured remarks from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, KP Assembly Speaker Babar Saleem Swati, Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong, and PCECC President Bayazeed Burhanullah Kasi, along with presentations covering the history and evolution of the Communist Party of China.
