Quetta,13 December, 2023 (GNP): Quetta police has arrested fashion designer and social media activist Khadijah Shah on charges of murder and attempted murder. whereas the Punjab government has withdrawn her detention order on Monday.
Khadijah was arrested by Quetta police on Monday afternoon, and the anti-terrorism court subsequently granted her a two-day transit remand to the police.
The police submitted an application to the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) seeking transit remand, referencing a murder and attempted murder case filed against Khadijah Shah at Quetta’s Bijli Road police station. The application stated that the suspect’s warrant had been obtained from the Quetta ATC.
The ATC instructed the police to present her in the appropriate court within two days.

On Monday, the Punjab government revoked her earlier detention order following a petition filed by Khadijah Shah’s husband, Jahanzeb Amin, challenging the detention.
The removal of the detention order adds another layer of uncertainty to the case. Shah’s legal representatives are expected to contest both the arrest in Quetta and the charges.
Mehvash Amin, a journalist and poet, stated on Twitter that Khadijah Shah had not “committed any crime.”
Aneela Shah, Shah’s mother, made an appeal to the Supreme Court, urging them to take notice of her daughter’s case.
