Islamabad, 13 January 2023(GNP): The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced to use of modern technology for the upcoming general elections. The ECP has been preparing for the next general elections in Pakistan and decided to use modern technology for poll voting.
The commission began taking a survey to identify the technical and internet issues in its district offices. Furthermore, ECP has also hired PTCL to ensure modern technology is used. The election commissioners have been instructed to cooperate with PTCL.
The preparations by ECP also include an upgrade of the electrical system and providing internet access in district offices. All of the measures being taken by ECP will ensure timely results after the end of the voting period.

The electronic process of voting will be capable of accurate application and fast counting of votes. It has also over time gained acceptance across the world as a transparent and fair area of voting.
The electronic voting system was first observed in 1964 in the elections of 7 states of the USA. Gradually the process of taking votes through punch cards became popular.
