Drone carrying millions-worth drugs crashed in Lahore

The authorities have handed over the confiscated items to the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) for further investigation.

Lahore, 7 July, 2023 (GNP): In a significant development, a drone carrying drugs worth millions of rupees crashed in the Halloki area of Lahore’s Kahna Town, the capital of Punjab. The incident occurred in Rasoolpura village, where the flying drone fell into fields owned by a local resident.

Footage of the aftermath circulated on social media, revealing residents gathering around the drone. Police and Rangers also reached the spot keeping in view the sensitivity of the issue.

A police official said that the large-sized drone was carrying six kilogrammes of heroin when it crashed into the fields of a landlord in the village. Prompt action was taken by the police, who took both the drone and the illicit drugs into custody.

The authorities have handed over the confiscated items to the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) for further investigation. The focus of the investigation will be on determining the origin of the drone operation and its intended destination, the police official said.

Moreover, the incident follows the arrest of five suspects earlier this year by the Narowal Police, targeting individuals involved in smuggling heroin across the border through the use of drones. During their investigation, the police also seized a control device, eight batteries, and automatic weapons.
