DHL Pakistan suspends its ‘Import Express Product’ from March 15

DHL Pakistan has announced that it will limit outbound shipments to a maximum load of 70kg for all consumers.

Islamabad, 28 February 2023 (GNP): Global logistics company DHL stated on Monday that it would partially halt some of its activities in Pakistan because of the government’s limitations on outbound remittances.

DHL Pakistan has advised its clients that, as of March 15, it will discontinue “Import Express Product” and limit outbound shipping for all clients billed in Pakistan to a weight capacity of 70 kg per delivery.

According to the company, packages picked before or before March 14 would continue to be shipped, even though it would be the final pickup date.

The State Bank of Pakistan and the PMLN-led coalition have put limits on outgoing remittances for international businesses doing business in Pakistan due to rapidly declining foreign exchange rates.

The courier service company stated that this restriction has made it inappropriate for DHL Express to continue supplying the entire product in Pakistan. “The remittances paid by DHL Pakistan cover the cost of DHL’s international aircraft, hub, gateway, and, last-mile delivery incurred across our worldwide network for the shipment sent or received by valued customers,” it added.

To allow delayed remittances to restart the full range of services in Pakistan as soon as possible, the business claimed it is in continuous touch with the country’s authorities.

Businessmen Group (BMG) CEO Zubair Motiwalla remarked that since exporters depend on DHL to transmit their products to international customers, the government should resolve DHL’s complaints.

According to Pakistan Fashion Apparel’s Chief Coordinator Jawed Bilwani, “we often provide textile samples that are needed for getting future business.”

While some packaging supplies are also sent from Lahore via DHL, some exports of commodities, such as surgical supplies, are produced from Sialkot. He continued that the trading community frequently imports goods from various countries.
