Deputy PM, EU Vice President discuss evolving situation

Islamabad (GNP) :-  Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar spoke today with European Union Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy / Vice-President of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas.

They discussed the evolving regional situation, including its economic and broader implications. EU Vice President/High Representative appreciated Pakistan’s continued constructive and facilitative role in promoting regional peace and stability.

Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister  reaffirmed Pakistan’s sustained commitment to promote dialogue and engagement in this regard.

He also commended the recent successful convening of the EU-Pakistan Business Forum in Islamabad, underscoring its role in strengthening partnerships and unlocking new opportunities for businesses.

Both agreed to remain in close contact.

On 1 December 2024, Kaja Kallas was appointed as High Representative /Vice President.

Since the entry into force of the Lisbon Treaty the High Representative is also Vice-President of the European Commission. This allows further coordination and ensure coherence in EU foreign policy as the European Commission has important international responsibilities such on trade, development, neighbourhood policy and humanitarian aid.
