Cultural performance featured at China-Pakistan Folk Music Concert

The goal was to promote cultural exchanges and cooperation between the two countries while also highlighting their unbreakable friendship.

Islamabad, 10 December 2022 (GNP): The Pakistan National Council of Arts, the Hebei Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism of China, and the China Cultural Center in Pakistan together staged the China-Pakistan Folk Music Concert (PNCA).

The objective was to demonstrate the unshakable connection between the two nations while also promoting cultural exchanges and collaboration between them.

The concert was streamed live online via chinanews.com & the official Facebook page of the China Cultural Center in Pakistan, along with movies promoting the culture & tourism of both nations.

The China-Pakistan Folk Music Concert was co-produced by the Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA), the Hebei Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism of China, and the China Cultural Center in Pakistan.Senior authorities from each nation also made video comments before the event. The program featured performances by the Chinese Orchestra of Hebei Song and Dance Theater and the Pakistani Folk Band of Salman Adil/National Performing Arts Group of PNCA.During the 80-minute live internet event, musicians from the Chinese Orchestra of the Hebei Song and Dance Theater also performed.

These include Wu Yahui and Wang Haiyun’s performances of “Date Harvest” on the Suona, a classic Chinese musical instrument with a double-reed horn, as well as Zhang Pei’s interpretation of “Battle Against Typhoon” on the Guzheng and Zhang Guoming.

Performances were given by the Pakistani Folk Band of Salman Adil/National Performing Arts Group of PNCA and the Chinese Orchestra of Hebei Song and Dance Theater.There were also musical performances by Pakistani artists, such as the santoor player’s rendition of the Pakistani folk song “Man di mauj vich,” which combines tabla and rubab.Other well-known performers from Pakistan and China performed a wide range of musical selections at the show.

The orchestra is associated with Hebei Provincial Song and Dance Theater Performing Arts Co., Ltd., the only professional national orchestra in Hebei Province. In 1960, it was formed.

After years of development and practise, particularly after 2018, it has progressively transformed into a fully staffed national orchestra with many players who have a high level of musical literacy.


Other well-known performers from Pakistan and China performed a wide range of musical selections at the show.

It has performed in the United States, Japan, Singapore, Italy, Greece, North Korea, Mongolia, Malaysia, and Thailand, in addition to Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan.
