Ambassador to US discusses Pakistan and regional dynamics

He spoke at event, "The Road Ahead: US-Pakistan Relations and Regional Dynamics in 2023."

Washington DC, 8 December 2022 (GNP): On Thursday, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States (US), Masood Khan, took part in a special conversation in Washington, DC.

The event was arranged by the Stimson Centre, a major peace and security think organization in the United States.

The event was titled “The Road Ahead: US-Pakistan Relations and Regional Dynamics in 2023,” and it was moderated by Elizabeth Threlkeld, Director of the Stimson Center’s South Asia Program.

Remarks by Masood Khan

In addressing Pakistan-US regional ties, Masood Khan emphasized that Pakistan and the US will continue to promote their common agenda as long-standing strategic partners. Terrorism can only be defeated in this manner.

We will strengthen our economic relationships and boost trade, investment, and business. He noted the political atmosphere is suitable for that type of cooperation in 2023.

Concerning security, the Envoy said that the resurgence of ISIS and terrorist assaults by TTP against Pakistan need robust security collaboration between Pakistan and the US.

He wished that every country would use strategic pragmatism to solve challenges that promote shared prosperity. Today’s bloc politics endanger global peace.

Masood Khan emphasized Pakistan’s connections with the United States and China. Along these lines, he emphasized, Pakistan applauds the US and China’s statesmanship in engaging one other whenever tensions arise.

Both countries appear to be economically dependent on one another. Pakistan would want to be a bridge between the two nations, the Ambassador reiterated.

Masood Khan also stressed Pakistan’s present economic success, which he sees as a good basis for US-Pakistan ties.

“We anticipate an early ministerial meeting on the Trade and Investment Framework Agreement,” he said, which will improve healthcare collaboration.
