Confrontation in Jenin refugee camp claims lives of Palestinian individuals

Jenin, 19 June, 2023 (GNP): A violent confrontation between Israeli forces and Palestinian individuals in the Jenin refugee camp of the occupied West Bank has resulted in the tragic loss of life. Five Palestinians, including a 15-year-old teenager, have been killed during the Israeli forces’ operation, which involved the use of helicopters.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health has identified the deceased individuals as Khaled Asasa (21), Qassam Abu Sariya (29), Qais Jabarin (21), and Ahmed Saqr (15).

Additionally, at least five others have sustained serious injuries in a shootout between armed groups and Israeli forces, according to the Ministry. The situation remains tense as efforts are underway to stabilize the area and provide necessary medical assistance to the wounded.

During the operation, Israeli soldiers encountered gunfire, leading to a “massive exchange of fire.” As Israeli military vehicles were leaving the camp, an explosive device hit one of the vehicles, resulting in damage. In response, military helicopters provided support by engaging the gunmen to facilitate the safe exit of the soldiers.
