Palestine issues warning on Extremist Jewish groups’ plan Al-Aqsa attack

In view of the extreme right-wing government's obsession with stoking tensions and creating new crises.

Ramallah, 7 March 2023 (GNP): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the State of Palestine issues a warning on the risks posed by demands made by radical Jewish organisations to conduct huge attack on the Holy Mosque Al-Aqsa on Tuesday and Wednesday, 7 and 8 March respectively, in conjunction with the Purim Eid.

In view of the extreme right-wing government’s obsession with stoking tensions and creating new crises, it now poses a threat of a massive explosion with unthinkable repercussions in the theatre of conflict.

The Israeli government is solely and directly accountable for these invasions in the eyes of the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which demands for international and American involvement to halt them before it’s too late.

Recent attacks on Mosque Aqsa

Among most recent attack on Mosque Aqsa, one was on April 29, 2022; Israeli soldiers raided Al-Aqsa Mosque, one of Islam’s holiest sites. According to the Palestinian Red Crescent, 42 persons were injured in it.

On May 21, 2021, Israeli police attacked worshippers at Al-Aqsa Mosque. Many people were injured as a result of the Israeli police’s deployment of gas bombs and stun grenades on Palestinians. Early on Friday, Palestinians in East Jerusalem’s occupied territory gathered to the flashpoint Al-Aqsa Mosque to celebrate the cease-fire negotiated between Israel and the Palestinian resistance organisation Hamas. Afterwards, they attempted to march from the al-Aqsa area to the Old City area, but Israeli police dispersed them with gas bombs and stun grenades.

Jewish extremist groups

There have been several Jewish extremist groups throughout history, particularly in the context of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Some of these groups have engaged in acts of violence and terrorism against Palestinian civilians and Israeli authorities, while others have carried out attacks against Jews who do not share their extreme views.

One such group is the Jewish extremist group known as Kach, which was founded in the 1970s by Rabbi Meir Kahane. Kach advocated for the forced expulsion of Palestinians from the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and was responsible for several terrorist attacks against Palestinians, including the 1994 Cave of the Patriarchs massacre that killed 29 Palestinian worshippers.

Another Jewish extremist group is Lehava, which is a far-right organization that opposes interfaith relationships and advocates for the expulsion of non-Jewish immigrants from Israel. The group has been accused of inciting violence against Palestinians and non-Jewish minorities in Israel.
