Beijing, 2 September, 2023(GNP): Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized the importance of unity and global cooperation within the international community, on Saturday. He stressed the need to work together for mutual development and the creation of a better future.
Foreign minister delivered these comments during a meeting with foreign ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states in Beijing.
He said China is ready to collaborate with SCO members to uphold the Shanghai Spirit, promoting mutual trust, benefit, equality and consultation. He urged the SCO to promote regional stability, enhance economic integration, cooperation and people-to-people exchanges.

It is not the first time that he has stressed the importance of unity and international community cooperation. In March 2023, he gave a similar statement during a press conference at the 13th National People’s Congress in Beijing.
He emphasized that global unity can tackle climate change, address deficits in peace, development, security, and governance. He further stated that global unity can create a lasting, secure, and prosperous world. In his speech, Wang Yi proposed four points, urging nations to unite, cooperate, and pursue mutual development for a promising future.
Chinese Foreign minister pointed out that the world is undergoing unprecedented and rapid changes. He stressed that amidst this backdrop, there are potential risks of division and confrontation, but also prospects for unity and cooperation and decisions made by nations will determine the trajectory of history.
Foreign Minister Wang Yi called for the promotion of friendly coexistence and building a shared future community.
He emphasized China’s readiness to collaborate globally in supporting authentic multilateralism and enhancing governance. This aims to foster a new form of international relations based on mutual respect, fairness, justice, and mutual benefit.
