Rawalpindi (GNP): UN Secretary-General António Guterres met Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (COAS & CDF), at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.
The two leaders talked over issues of shared concern, the current security situation in the region, and the part the United Nations can play in advancing international peace and security. Their exchange covered regional stability, the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, India’s decision to hold the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance, and terrorism originating from Afghanistan.
Munir restated Pakistan’s dedication to world peace and pointed to the country’s participation in UN peacekeeping missions. He also praised the UN’s work under Guterres’s leadership in promoting peace, stability and humanitarian cooperation.
Guterres honoured the sacrifices and contributions made by Pakistan and its armed forces in the fight against terrorism and in UN peacekeeping.

He recognised Pakistan’s continuing commitment to international peace and security, and singled out its efforts to resolve regional conflicts peacefully.
