Hajj 2024 registration begins with new opportunities and reduced expenses

Islamabad, 28 November, 2023 (GNP): The Ministry of Religious Affairs announced on Monday that the registration for Hajj 2024 under the government’s scheme has begun and will remain open until December 12.

The ministry’s spokesperson stated that designated banks are currently accepting applications for next year’s Hajj.

The spokesperson mentioned that approximately 89,605 Pakistanis are expected to perform Hajj under the government scheme next year. In case the number of applications exceeds the prescribed limit, a balloting process will be conducted.

In a significant development, women will, for the first time, have the chance to embark on the sacred journey without the customary need for a male companion.

This incorporation enables Karachi airport to facilitate the immigration process for pilgrims, streamlining their journey. Additionally, the government introduced a 20-day short Hajj package, aiming to enhance the financial accessibility of Haj for citizens.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs will supervise these operators to ensure the well-being of pilgrims, holding the ministry accountable for any issues faced by individuals performing Hajj through private operators.

Furthermore, intending pilgrims who choose a shorter stay in Medina will benefit from an additional reduction of Rs 35,000 in Hajj expenses.
