Islamabad, 14 March,2024 (GNP): The Asian Development Bank has pledged a substantial investment of US $140 million towards the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Roads Improvement Project.
This initiative aims to enhance the connectivity, safety, and resilience of the road network in the KP province, thereby fostering economic growth and improving the quality of life for residents.
The funding agreement was formalized in a signing ceremony attended by representatives from Asian Development Bank and the Government of Pakistan.
Under this agreement, the Asian Development Bank will support the rehabilitation and upgrade of key road infrastructure in KPK, including the construction of new roads, bridges, and related facilities.
The project will prioritize areas with high traffic volume and strategic importance, aiming to enhance transportation efficiency and reduce travel time.

Furthermore, the KP Roads Improvement Project will incorporate climate-resilient design elements to mitigate the impact of natural disasters and extreme weather events.

In addition to physical infrastructure development, the project will also focus on capacity building and institutional strengthening within the KP government.
Through training programs and knowledge-sharing initiatives, local authorities will be equipped with the skills and expertise necessary to effectively manage and maintain the upgraded road network.
