27th April 2020 (GNP): Around 2000 people were rescued by Pakistani peacekeepers from the Uvira region in the Democratic Republic of CONGO (DRC) that were stranded due to heavy floods.  The Torrential floods started erupting in the Uvira region last week. Rains and flooding destroyed thousands of homes hitting 75,000 people.

Troops also established a stone embankment to check flood water, which was powerful enough to shift people & transportations from the troubled area. Stranded people were served with food & provided necessary med care. Pakistani Peacekeepers’ rescue attempts have been widely recognized by UN (GNP).
