Diamer, 17 July 2023 (GNP): In a devastating incident on Sunday, a tourist coaster carrying 31 individuals fell into a ravine off Karakoram Highway near the Thalichi area in Diamer district, Gilgit-Baltistan, reported by the sources. The accident resulted in the loss of seven lives, including one man, a child, and five women, while nine others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
The district administration of Diamer, along with Rescue 1122 and other organizations, swiftly responded to the incident, initiating rescue operations. The local residents also actively participated in the rescue efforts, demonstrating solidarity and support.

The Jaglot assistant commissioner said the injured individuals were quickly transferred to medical facilities in Gilgit for immediate treatment. The health department and 1122 ambulances played a crucial role in providing necessary aid to the affected individuals.
Emergency measures were promptly implemented at hospitals in Diamer and Gilgit to ensure the provision of adequate medical care and support.
In response to the tragic news, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed profound sorrow and extended his condolences to the bereaved families. He directed the relevant authorities in Gilgit-Baltistan to provide immediate relief and ensure an efficient rescue response. The prime minister also urged federal government departments to extend their support and medical assistance to the injured passengers.

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari also expressed deep grief over the loss of lives in the tragic incident.
Praying for the speedy recovery of the people injured in the accident, PM Shehbaz urged the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the mishap, aiming to prevent similar incidents in the future.
